Lauren Ambrose was born on November 16, 1978, in New Haven, Connecticut. Her birth name is Lauren Anne D'Ambruoso, her Italian side coming from her father. Lauren Ambrose attended the Wilbur Cross High School and trained in the ACES Educational Center for the Arts in Connecticut as well. This beautiful red haired actress has also proved multi-talented, as she can sing the opera. She studied opera and voice lessons at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute when she was a teenager, and displayed her talents while singing in weddings and choirs.
Early in her acting career, Lauren Ambrose also made outstanding appearances on the small screen, including the crime series Law and Order and Party of Five.
Her first movie role was In and Out in 1997, a comedy film where she was cast as a student alongside big names in the movie industry such as Kevin Kline, Matt Dillon, and Joan Cusack. This was followed by a bigger role in 1998’s Can’t Hardly Wait, a teen comedy where she costarred with Seth Green, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Ethan Embry. Lauren Ambrose also starred in Summertime’s Calling Me, Saving Graces, Swimming, and Psycho Beach Party before she landed a role in the HBO television series Six Feet Under. Her work in the series earned her a nomination for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role Emmy Award two years in a row.
